Week 8 & 9 - including Birthday naughties!!
Week 8 was all on plan with SP days up until Sunday (19th), which was the proper start to my week off.
This is mainly a food consumption confessional...
My partner and I were train bound on an adventure to Bath. We had Pret Porridge at Paddington, it was gorgeous and then did the sums...it was 12.5 syns!!! It was really creamy, so creamy I would guess that it was made with full fat milk or actual cream! It was the best choice of a bad bunch, the sausage and egg brioche roll I actually wanted was 27.5 syns! *gulp*
Once in Bath we checked into our hotel (Premier Inn), and went to the Wetherspoons next door for lunch. It was a pint of Cider, their Superfood Pasta (8.5 syns) and half a portion of Garlic Bread (?? syns) There will be no syn values throughout the rest of this post.
After lunch we went round the Roman Baths which was really eye opening, I didn't realise how big the site was and also that it was still all bubbly and hot to this current day.
We bimbled round the town afterwards, it was lovely how nice and clean it all was there, no litter whatsoever ✨.
Ended up eating in the hotel restaurant as we were tired from travelling and wanted an early night, I had an "alright" lamb burger with chips. The dessert menu left a lot to be desired so we walked next door to the Wetherspoons for desert and a drinky drink before bed! I had the millionaires choc sundae...don't do it people, it is not nice, to my shame I did finish it.
Over to Monday we started the day with the buffet cooked breakfast in the hotel (this was a fail, I should have just had the continental breakfast and got cereal with yoghurt and fruit). We walked to the town centre and had another wander around the area, and then went into the Abbey. Bath Abbey is just beautiful, it is massive inside and for me it had a lovely calming influence over how I felt in that moment of being there. I really loved being inside the building and could have sat there for hours (or until my bum went numb).
I did want to walk up the 200-odd steps to the top of the tower, however I didn't feel well enough to walk up all those steps which saddened and annoyed me.
From this we went to lunch at TGI Fridays, (it gets from bad to worse). I had a regular Barnamint Baileys cocktail we ate from the 2 course lunch menu - mozzarella dippers and the chicken waffle sandwich. Oh jeez, the portions were way too big and I shouldn't have picked a drink that was effectively a dessert. I managed half of the starter and half of the waffle sandwich and I wasn't able to touch any of the chips. I think I forgot how much my stomach has changed and possibly shrunk since I have been eating properly on SW.
We ended up going to bed in the hotel for a bit after we both felt very defeated by lunch. Nothing else happened that day apart from lots of sleep and watching Kung Fu Panda 2.
Third and final day my partner kindly went to Pret to pick us up some porridge to save a repeat of the day before. We got ready and checked out and left our luggage with hotel reception (very lovely).
We walked to a really random Guitar shop and had a look around, it had some really old pieces that were interesting to look at, we had time to kill so went to lunch a bit early. We went to "Herd", it is a steak restaurant and we had the BEST steak of our lives. I actually wanted to buy a train ticket to bring the chef home with me. OMG it was that awesome.
The menu had Crème brûlée and we operate on a rule that if its on the menu, we're eating it. That was also amazing, the "tappy top" had just the right amount of crunch too.
From here we went to the Herschel Museum, which was a house that William Herschel the Musician turned Astronomer lived in with his sister Caroline (also an Astronomer). It was also the location that he discovered the planet Uranus...yes, it's this dude who you can thank for all of the Uranus jokes 😂.
Last part of the day saw us go to the Canary Gin Bar 🍸.
All of the gin!! All of the gin!!
I had a cocktail to start called La Vie en Rose, it was really florally and totally gorgeous.
Train journey home was thankfully really effortless, and we walked from the station home to get a few extra steps in.
The rest of the week included cocktails in a trip to London (Covent Garden Adventure Bar 💜), 4oz burger from GBK, more porridge from Pret, birthday cake, Gin, mac 'n' cheese hot dog, and poutine!
The scales will not be kind to me on Wednesday (1st March) but I had an awesome week and it's only your birthday once a year. I have no proper leave booked until Spain in September now so I can crack on full throttle. I dream to have lost a total of 4 to 5 stone by September, lets make it happen.
