Fitness
This is my first official post and I will kick it off writing about fitness, this is something that is greatly on my mind at the moment.
I
started concentrating properly on losing weight in January ’16 after joining
the gym in November ’15.
I
got myself into the habit of going to the gym right before the run up to all
the Christmas partying as I found this the easiest thing to start to
incorporate into my life.
Before
the New Year I was going to the gym two nights a week doing a mix of cardio and
resistance.
Now
the New Year is in full swing and everything starts a fresh I have been trying
to get to the gym three times a week and more if my schedule allows.
I
am overweight and if we go by the out of date BMI method I have around 6 stone
to lose so I’m in for the long haul here!
I
have tried so many diets and if I manage to get the weight off it doesn’t take
long before old habits start and I’m back at square one plus more weight each
time.
This
year I have a wedding to go to in September and I have been asked by the
gorgeous Bride to be one of her maids! So
now I have an event to work for I am hoping this will give me more motivation
to keep up and keep going.
During
March my aims for the gym are to go three times a week and to try a new gym
class.
I
have recently started doing a Powerwave class one morning a week and that is
amazing, half an hour of circuits with a weighted bag and I am ready to fight
the day.
It’s
a shame that my gym doesn’t do more early morning classes as they really get me
into the right mood to start the day.
My
gym have just started doing a Kettlebell class this month and I gave it a go last Monday (14th March). Goodness that class was hard work, sadly the lightest kettlebell they had was an 8kg. They're ordering in lighter weights which will really help me learn the mobility of the moves without injuring myself.
I was hobbling like a little old lady for 2 days after this class, so I definitely needed a lighter weight.
I am sticking with it though, as I survived, the aching has passed and it wasn't all bad, I burnt 400 calories!
As
a commitment to myself to keep up with my classes I shall be posting a
screenshot of the output on my heart rate monitor on Instagram after each gym session.
